Home News There was a time when running watches were pricey propositions, and while that remains true at the top end, advances in tech mean running watches are smaller, more advanced and - crucially - more affordable than ever before. Setting running goals and monitoring your progress has never been easier thanks to data analysis offered by even the most basic and cheap running watches. With metrics like heart rate and GPS location, anyone can train like a pro. Even on smaller budgets, there are plenty of running watches to choose from, including offerings for beginners just starting out, regulars looking to push themselves, and athletes aiming to smash their running bests, with the following the best of the affordable bunch. We've limited our selections to watches that cost around $150 / £150 or less at the time of writing. Prices do occasionally go up as well as down, so it's possible that some of our inclusions will be slightly pricier at some points, but they remain at the affordable end of the scale. If your budget stretches a little further you might also want to check out our guide to the best running watches or our overall best smartwatch guide. And if you're not set on a running watch per se, why not take a look at the best cheap smartwatch ranking? (Image credit: Garmin) 1. Garmin Forerunner 45 A surprisingly well-featured affordable running watch GPS: Yes | Connectivity: Bluetooth | Battery: 13 hours with GPS | Waterproof: Yes, to 50 meters Lightweight Music controls Limited sport profiles Plastic-heavy build Garmin makes a number of the best running watches you can buy, and while some of them - like the Garmin Forerunner 945 – are very expensive, others are fairly affordable, while still being all that many runners will need. The Garmin Forerunner 45 is a prime example of that. It’s a lightweight device, so you can put it on and forget about it, and it has music controls, so you don’t need to dig out your phone to change tracks mid-run. And thanks to having GPS, GLONASS and Galileo it should be able to accurately track you wherever you are. There’s a heart rate monitor too, plus sleep tracking, stress tracking, VO2 max, and even a Body Battery feature, which estimates your energy levels. The Forerunner 45 is a bit more limited for sports beyond running, and there’s no real swim tracking, but if running is your priority, and you’re either on a budget or just don’t need all the tech offered by a top-end model, then this is a superb option. Polar M200 A watch that tracks almost everything GPS: Yes | Connectivity: Bluetooth | Battery: One week | Waterproof: Yes, to 30 meters Good value Good app Plain design GPS can be slow to lock on The Polar M200 is a super affordable option, especially when you consider everything that’s crammed into this running watch. You get - deep breath - wrist-based heart rate tracking, built-in GPS, smartphone notifications, all day activity tracking, personalized training programs via the app, varying color options, and battery life for a week of use with an hour's run per day - and breathe. The round face is designed to be attractive enough for daily wear, while the water-resistant build should mean you don’t need to take it off much. The Polar Flow app plays nice with other fitness services, so you should be able to transition across painlessly – well, apart from the pain of running, of course. Amazfit Bip The Bip is all about battery and value GPS: Yes | Connectivity: Bluetooth | Battery: Up to 45 days | Waterproof: IP68-rated Stylish design Excellent companion app Auto-pause feature doesn’t work Finicky UI Yes, the Amazfit Bip is very cheap, but you actually get quite a lot of watch for your money. There’s the near-obligatory GPS and heart rate monitor of course, making it a capable run-tracker, aided by an app that provides plenty of post-run stats. But the Amazfit Bip also has brilliant battery life, so it can be your daily fitness companion for weeks on end without being put on charge. Add to that stylish, Apple Watch -like looks, and it’s easy to see why we’re such big fans. Just be aware that it’s not as good with notifications as some pricier smartwatches, and like many cheap running watches it’s less impressive for other types of exercise. Read our full Amazfit Bip review 4. Fitbit Charge 3 Slim, attractive and easy to use GPS: No | Connectivity: Bluetooth | Battery: 4 days | Waterproof: Yes, to 50 meters Big screen Waterproof design Monochrome display No onboard GPS The Fitbit Charge line of products have been popular ever since the original generation back in 2014, and now the latest generation is the Fitbit Charge 3. It's a touch more expensive than the Charge 2, but it can do more. New upgrades for the Charge 3 include a waterproof design so you can take this in a pool with you. But you're here for a running watch, so how does this perform out there when you're jogging? It may not be the cheapest device on this list, but it's one of the easiest to use, and while you'll have to take your phone out to be able to track your location on a run, you'll get the benefits of onboard music storage and quick exercises directly from your wrist. All of your key stats appear on the larger display that Fitbit has included on this generation, and the design is far nicer than it has been on other products in the past. This isn't the most high-end running device on this list, but the Fitbit Charge 3 offers a lot of what you may be looking for. Read our full Fitbit Charge 3 review 5. Polar M430 Simple, smart and effective GPS: Yes | Connectivity: Bluetooth | Battery: 8 hours with GPS | Waterproof: Yes, to 30 meters Great for goal-based runners Good battery life Annoying charging lead Some smartphone syncing issues A significant upgrade on the best-selling M400, the newer Polar M430 adds improved heart-rate tracking, pin-point accurate GPS and the addition of sleep tracking. This affordable watch delivers enough to cater for couch-to-5Kers and serious marathon runners alike. The M430 boasts all the usual run-tracking, but also offers additional features such as sleep tracking, a simple Fitness Test to chart your progress, and recommended recovery times. An update also added a find-your-way-home feature, giving you the freedom to run off the beaten track. The design is a little retro, the screen is basic, and you won't get all of the elite features you get with the Polar V800 or a top-end Forerunner. Still, at this price, there’s more than enough to satisfy most runners. Read our full Polar M430 review 6. Garmin Forerunner 35 Good range of features at entry-level price GPS: Yes | Connectivity: Bluetooth | Battery: 13 hours with GPS | Waterproof: Yes, to 50 meters Comfortable Waterproof to 50m Bland 1. 2-inch display Blocky design The affordable Garmin Forerunner 35 packs in plenty of the high-end features you’d find on Garmin’s elite running watches but at a more wallet-friendly price. In addition to a large array of running metrics, the GPS-based wearable includes an optical heart-rate monitor, smart notifications (calls and messages), and activity tracking, meaning you’ll get a full picture of your daily motion, not just running. It may lack some of the advance running dynamics tools you get on watches like the Garmin Forerunner 635 (stride length, for example), and seasoned runners may need a more powerful HR sensor, but it’s perfect for new runners or those dipping their toes into the world of wearable tech. More into all-round fitness? These are the best fitness trackers.

The comparison between this and the Snow Patrol original is pointless. They are both brilliant but the styles and tone are too different for a straight up comparison. One of the few times where I bought both the original artist AND the cover. I normally despise covers but this one is different because Leona's voice really adds power to the lyrics while Snow Patrol's is more reflective. I love them both as much because of the stylistic difference as anything.

Run fatboy run watch free. Exercise is vastly important. Running is one of the easiest exercises. It requires little to not equipment and there are sidewalks everywhere. People are running to shed those pounds, stay in shape, and hopefully live a slightly longer, happier life. Your mobile device is perfect for keeping track of your running, distance, frequency, and in some cases, even heart rate. Exercise apps in general have a nasty habit of using the subscription model. It sucks to pay every month for basic stuff, but that’s the way things are. In any case, these are the best running apps for Android! Read Next: Do fitness trackers really work? Probably, but it’s not as simple as you think! Here are some more fitness resources that you might find helpful! 15 best Android fitness apps for Android! The best fitness trackers (December 2019) Couch to 5K by RunDouble Price: Free / Up to $3. 20 Couch to 5K (abbreviated as C5K) is one of the better running apps for beginners. It tracks your running, gives you paces to strive for, and more. The idea is to get you from never running to 5K runs in nine weeks. Some of the other programs include Couch to 10k, 5k to 10k, half marathon training, and even a fun run section. Some other features include a time and distance tracking, integration with music, and heart rate monitor support. This one is also especially great for its price. It has no subscriptions, only a pro version for a very reasonable price. Endomondo Price: Free / $5. 99 per month / $29. 99 per year Endomondo is one of the most popular running apps. This one has a metric ton of features. Some of them include fitness tracking, analysis, support for various wearables, challenges, and social features. This one also tracks exercises other than running. That makes it great for those who exercise in multiple ways. It also includes support for MyFitnessPal, Google Fit, Wear OS, and Samsung Gear. You could do worse for the price. This is one of the subscription running apps, though, and it does get expensive. It’s not a bad thing, but something to keep in mind. Google Fit Price: Free Google Fit is among the best free running apps on mobile. It keeps track of a variety of things, including exercise, calories burned, and more. It also supports most wearable exercise trackers. Some of the big names are Wear OS, Nike+, Runkeeper, Strava, MyFitnessPal, Lifesum, and even Sleep As Android for sleep tracking. It has its flaws. However, the app is entirely free. It’s kind of hard to criticize a free app too much. It’s also a little bit simpler than some runners might like. Still, it’s a good jumping off point and a decent free fitness tracker. Nike+ Run Club Price: Free Nike+ Run Club is another decent free running app. It covers the basics pretty well. The features include a run tracker for both time and distance. Additionally, you get weekly and monthly challenges to help stay motivated along with achievements, leaderboards, and other social fun stuff. You can easily keep track of things like distance, pace, duration, and estimated calories burned. It even includes support for Wear OS. The app gets frequent updates. However, those updates can occasionally break stuff in the app. It requires a little patience, but free is free. Map My Run Price: Free / $5. 99 per month / $24. 99 per year Map My Run is another popular option for running apps. It boasts a community of 40 million people. This one helps map running routes, track stats, track goals, and more. The pro version adds better analysis, heart rate support, live tracking, and other tools. Thankfully, the free version works great for beginner and intermediate runners. The app also includes tracking for over 600 other activities. Like Endomondo, it’s great for exercise in general. The MVP version of the app goes for $5. 99 per month or $29. 99 per year. That’s a bit expensive, but still less so than most subscription workout apps. Take a break and check out some more excellent apps! 15 best Android apps available right now! 10 best health apps for Android! Runkeeper Price: Free / $9. 99 per month / $39. 99 per year Runkeeper is easily among the most popular running apps and for good reason. It works really well. The app features a variety of training regimes, tracking tools, goals, progress reports, and more. That includes support for wearables like Wear OS, Garmin watches, and some other Bluetooth devices. The free version gives you tracking and logging as well as basic stats. The pro version has all of the fun stuff. The monthly subscription is absurdly expensive and we don’t recommend it. Those who go pro should probably pay by the year. It’s vastly cheaper that way. Strava is another good app that does a lot of the same stuff as Runkeeper. Runmore 5K Trainer Price: Free / $0. 99 per month / $2. 99 once Runmore 5K Trainer is a simple, easy running app with native Wear OS support. It works like other running apps in this space. You start out easy with things like 60 seconds of running followed by 90 seconds of walking and work your way up to running a 5K. The UI is super simple and there aren’t a ton of extras. The premium version adds Google Fit support and a dark theme along with ad-free usage. This is an excellent option for people who like to keep it simple. We also really appreciate there being a subscription option or a one-off payment model. Runtastic Price: Free / $14. 90 per 3 months / $19. 90 per 6 months / $35. 90 per year Runtastic is one of the most feature-rich running apps out there. It can do basically anything you need it to do. That includes fitness tracking, live tracking, voice coaches, goals, support for various wearables, support for other apps, and a lot more. The premium version is a little weird. However, everything else seems to be right where it should be. The only downside to this app is how they handle the pro version. Some features end up behind the paywall and others come out on a consistent basis. That’s really annoying, but it happens. We also dislike its weird subscription models, but they work out to pretty cheap investments when calculated monthly. The app is run by adidas now, but it still does the same stuff. Zombies, Run! Price: Free / $3. 99 per year Zombies, Run! is one of the most unique running apps. It motivates you by telling you a story. The longer you go, the more of the story you unlock. The free version comes with some basic stuff. However, you need the pro version to get all of the stories along with some additional features. That includes over 200 story missions. Zombie Chases is a fun game mode. Basically, you speed up when you hear zombies behind you or drop supplies to distract them. It’s difficult to put the experience into words. There is a free version to try out, though! Wearable apps Price: Free (usually) In some cases, downloading another app isn’t necessary. Many wearables, including Wear OS, Samsung Gear, Fitbit, and others include apps with their experience. They are generally pretty good for basic stats like steps taken, heart rate (when applicable), distance traveled, stairs climbed, calories burned, and others. For instance, Fitbit (linked) has an exceptionally good app for basic stat tracking. It won’t get you where the others do. However, not everyone wants such an in-depth experience. In that case, these running apps work just fine. Thank you for reading!
