Windows on the world movie review. Just. crying for these families and all who died that day. I will never forget. Even if I was only three years old at the time. Windows on the World, despite the fact that it takes place in the weeks following the 9/11 terrorist attack in New York, is a film that is urgently for our time. It is a hero's journey of a son trying to find his father in that grief-stricken landscape and the characters stand in for the millions of immigrants, legal and illegal, who contribute in their everyday lives, to the American landscape. The film seeks to counter the narrative that's all-too-prevalent in today's political and media landscape by telling a story set in America's biggest and most diverse city, at its darkest time. The script by playwright and novelist Robert Mailer Anderson (who also produced the film) is wise and completely engaging; he creates indelible characters who are ultimately inspiring and uplifting. Edward James Olmos gives what he considers to be the performance of a lifetime, and the rest of the cast is terrific as well-with a special shout-out to Glynn Turman. The direction, by Olmos's son Michael, is sure-handed, getting terrific performances from his cast, including his father, in this father-son story, and it's beautifully lensed. The music, including jazz and a title track written by Anderson, is pitch-perfect, supporting the story without getting in the way. This film should be seen by everybody-and I'm sure it will be in mainstream distribution soon, as this is a time when, although the major studios may have turned their backs on substance, terrific indie films like this one have many other possible venues. If you can't see it at a film festival, like I did, keep a keen eye out for it. Terrific and inspiring.

One of the main differences here is that we get to learn our main actress first, before the inciting incident. This may feel like time wasted or as a nice little touch. Let's go for the latter. The Soskas do have an affinity for Cronenberg and you can tell. They also assembled a nice cast overall, even though someone like CM Punk (can't recall his real name) is quite a cardboard cutout and very cliche for example. But you can tell he has fun with his litle role as is anyone else involved.
The Soskas did change enough for it to make sense to watch both movies. So if you are into horror movies, and don't mind a bit of social commentary thrown in for good measure, you could do worse.

Watch rabid dogs 2015 online. I'm innocent. raccoon. Idiotic daughter wants to let rabid coyote run wild. So what did I actually watch? I really don't know. I was hoping this movie would be at least a decent remake, or a good B movie. However, at the end I was just wondering WTF it was supposed to be. It's quite different from the original, but not as good, or thoughtful or provocative (I mean, the original lead was an adult movie actress, the new one is a beautiful, established soap opera actress pretending to be ugly.
It's shot well, features good SFX and gore, but many scenes look like their from a telenovela or CW YA TV show. The acting was atrocious at times, the story too convoluted. The last 20 minutes are totally bonkers, unexpected and, in my opinion, unnecessary. But I gotta give the Soskas respect for doing their own thing. Unsuccessfully, but still, they tried. I enjoyed their first feature 'Dead Hooker in a Trunk' a lot more.

Alkalomadtán letörlik egy ronggyal, esetleg ráfújnak valami penészölőnek elnevezett szert. Pedig a penész egészségkárosító hatású lehet. Több ezer faja létezik, s vannak közöttük olyanok (kb. 80 faj), amelyek valamilyen betegséget okoznak, illetve azoknál, akik az immunrendszer gyengébb működését előidéző alapbetegségben szenvednek, akár halált is. A leggyakoribb következménye a jelenlétüknek az asztma, illetve allergia kialakulása, különösen veszélyes kisgyerekekre, de bizonyos fajok megtámadják a tüdőt, májat vagy a vesét, illetve krónikus fáradtság, fejfájás, szem- és nyálkahártya-irritáció, tüsszögés, bőrkiütések, idült köhögés, súlyosabb esetben pedig az állandó émelygés, hányinger, hányás, orr- és tüdővérzés is olykor a penész számlájára írható. Az okozott betegségek tehát változatosak, ha pontosan tudni akarjuk, hogy tüneteinket penész okozta, s annak milyen faja, akkor néhány tízezer forintért már elvégzi a vizsgálatot lakásunkban egy aerobiológus. Ami fontos, hogy sokszor rejtett penésszel állunk szemben, azaz nem látható helyen telepedett meg a gomba, így csak a levegőben keringő spórákból tudja megállapítani a szakember, hogy a penész a baj forrása. A kulcsszó: a harmatpont Nem lélegző falak, műanyag nyílászárók, pára, hőhíd, kevés szellőztetés. Ezeket szokták emlegetni az emberek, amikor az okok után kutatnak. Az elsőt kivéve mindegyikben van igazság, de a penész kialakulása egy lakás falán, plafonján mindig több tényező együttállásának következménye. Itt azonban nem egy homályos felsorolás következik, hanem egy rendkívül konkrét dolog, ami mindent összefoglal és megmagyaráz: a harmatpont. A harmatpont az a hőmérséklet, amikor egy felületen bizonyos mértékű relatív páratartalom és helyiség-hőmérséklet mellett lecsapódik a pára. Ha például egy lakásban 60%-os a relatív páratartalom, és 21 fok a hőmérséklet, akkor egy 12, 9 foknál hidegebb felületen lecsapódik a pára (itt tudod kikalkulálni a harmatpontot. ) Az állandó nedves felületet pedig ki fogják használni az egyébként a levegőben állandóan jelen lévő spórák (a koncentráció az, ami nem mindegy). A penész szempontjából ugyanis a lényeg a nedves felület: ha valamiért állandóan vizes egy felület (például csőtörés, fürdőszoba), akkor persze ott is előjön. A harc A harmatpont kapcsán tehát látható, hogy két lényeges paramétert érdemes változtatni a megoldás érdekében: az egyik a felszín hőmérséklete, a másik a levegő relatív páratartalma. Hogyan lehet a felszín hőmérsékletét hatékonyan és tartósan megemelni? Ha szerencsénk van, néhány esetben már az is elegendő, ha megváltoztatjuk a helyiségen belül a levegő áramlását, azaz eléri a felfűtött, melegebb levegő a problémás részt. Tehát, ha például a bútorok mögött penészes a fal, akkor elhúzzuk őket onnan. Átrendezzük a lakást, külső falak helyett belső falakhoz húzzuk a szekrényeket, megszüntetjük a takarásokat, az olyan sarkokat, ahová nem jut el a meleg levegő a fizikai akadályok miatt. Ha ez nem megoldás, akkor két további lehetőségünk van: a külső szigetelés, illetve az, hogy belülről folyamatosan melegítjük valamilyen eszközzel (pl. fűtőpanel) a problémás részt. Számtalan más módszerről lehet olvasni, ami olcsóbb, és habár senkinek nem akarjuk elvenni a kedvét a hiú ábrándokból, s attól az érzéstől, hogy ő az, aki egyedül képes megoldani a problémát, azt azért eláruljuk, hogy rövidtávon talán elérhető némi eredmény, hosszú távon azonban visszatér a probléma, s rosszabb esetben drágán fogják megfizetni az árát. Csodák ugyanis ebben az esetben sincsenek. Kőkorszakitól az űrkorszakig A másik említett tényező, amivel játszani lehet: a páratartalom. A relatív páratartalmat már egész kezdetleges módszerrel csökkenthetjük. A kőkorszaki megoldás: a szellőztetés. Ha valaki vesz egy higrométert otthonra (néhány ezer forintért már kapható), elkerekedett szemmel tapasztalhatja, hogy egy télen kinyitott ablak milyen meredeken rántja le percek alatt a relatív páratartalmat a lakásban. Szellőztetni egyébként azért sem árt, mert a biológiailag szükséges légcsereszám óránként 0, 5–0, 7, ami azt jelenti, hogy egy óra alatt ennyiszer kellene kicserélődnie a lakás levegőjének, hogy emberi életre alkalmas legyen a lakásunk. Mielőtt azonban nagy lendülettel kitárnánk az összes ablakot, egy dologra figyeljünk: télen hosszan soha ne szellőztessünk, illetve állandóan ne hagyjunk nyitva ablakot résnyire, mert ezáltal bizonyos falfelületek lehűlhetnek, márpedig láttuk, hogy pont így jelenik meg a nedvesség, majd a penész. A szellőztetés fáradságos munkáját átveheti tőlünk a modern technika is, s mint megannyi más esetben, jobban csinálhatja nálunk. Szofisztikáltabb megoldást jelentenek a nyitogatásnál az ablakba épített résszellőzők, melyek a páramennyiségtől függően nyílnak és zárnak, s biztosítják az óránként szükséges légcsereszámot, de nem biztos, hogy minden esetben elegendőek. Alternatív megoldásként próbálkozhatunk párátlanító berendezésekkel. Itt nem egy közértben kapható kis akármire gondoljunk, hanem egy elektromos árammal működő, kb. fél méter magas, és néhány 10 ezer forintba kerülő eszközre, mely naponta több liter vizet képes összegyűjteni, s nem mellékesen elég sok áramot fogyasztani. A spóragyűjtésben a légtisztító berendezések szintén segíthetnek, de egy valóban hatékony és jó minőségű szerkezet ára bőven 100 ezer forint felett jár, s majdnem minden helyiségben el kell helyezni egyet. A biztos megoldást a megtervezett szellőzőrendszerek jelentik, ezek között is a ventilátoros megoldások, melyek fordulatszáma a páratartalomtól függ, ráadásul lehetnek hővisszanyerősök is, vagyis a felfűtött benti levegővel nem az utcát fűtjük. Ez nemcsak kényelmes és hatékony, de takarékos megoldásnak is mondható, habár a rendszer kiépítése nem olcsó. Egy vastag külső szigeteléssel kombinálva azonban egy garantáltan penészmentes lakást kapunk. Most már csak arra kell figyelni, hogy alulról se vizesedjen a házunk, semmilyen cső ne szivárogjon, és a szomszéd se áztassa a falainkat. Saw this at TIFF. it is really good. A masterpiece. 😢 😢 😢 J'irai le voir. Je l'ai regarder en avant première et il est super bien. J'ai eu la chance de visionner ce film lors des RCC de Cannes. C'est un superbe film, émouvant et drôle. Je vous conseille d'aller le voir lors de sa sortie en salle de cinéma. L'acteur jeune blond c'est son frère en fantome ou j'ai rien compris. Vai Brasil. My biggest turndown with Invisible Life's biggest competition inside Brazil this year ( Bacurau' was the excess of metaphors to make it a smart work. some of which have absolutely no contibution to the story. Still, it was able to provoke a lot of emotional reactions, it's specially smart and meaningful to watch from a Brazilian perspective. Invisible Life is something different, it's universal, delicate and rough at the same time, and it's story has no need to explaining. we all know what it is about. Still, they explain (the only reason why it's not a 100% for me.
Carol Duarte and Julia Stockler are incredible. Also need to mention the short appearance from Brazil's greatest actress of all time, Academy Award nominee Fernanda Montenegro, not only for the name but mostly because, after 120 minutes of the movie, her performance was still able to reach out to the emotions you built for the characters in the past 2 hours.
Overall, absolutely beautiful. The film is a visual spectacle, but also a beautiful and touching story.

I hope to get a screener for this or it come on Amazon Prime so I can watch it for voting consideration since Im a member of the Independent Spirit Awards. This looks so good. Based on a novel INVISIBLE LIFE offers a very typical plot for Brazilian cinema. Sisters separated by fate is a tagline straight from GLOBO tv channel soap operas that are so popular in Brazil. With a running time of 2h20min the pace is rather slow and the story takes its time to get going. Where the film succeeds is the atmosphere of the 40s Rio, with its walkways, restaurants, and its diminishing Portuguese middle class that can easily slip into extreme hardship and poverty.
Independent director Karim Ainouz is a Cannes darling but has never quite made it into the big league. This feels like a passion project for him and his love for Rio is obvious in every shot. Definitely not for everyone THE INVISIBLE LIFE is rich in emotion and atmosphere. Watch out for a small role from Brazilian acting royalty Fernando Montenegro. Her emotional gut wrenching cameo could be just the reason to see this overlong family saga.

They are brothers through circumstances: the violinist child prodigy from the Warsaw Jewish community and the London lad who eventually befriends him when they are brought together. The story revolves around the sudden disappearance, on the day of his virtuoso concert, of the prodigy. Only near the end of the film do we discover why.
The film brilliantly deals with multiple layers and flashbacks, with perfect pacing and quite outstanding acting. The musical score is phenomenal.
This is a film about tragedy and loss, about how trauma lives on. It perfectly weaves the themes of ethnicity and religion.
It's a superb, haunting, film which I have not done justice here. In part that's because I don't want to do a review with spoilers. You have to go and see this film and allow your soul to be transported by the wonderful cinematography, script and musical score.
They don't make films as beautiful and brilliant as this very often. Go see it.

I'll begin with this 1999 film set in the Scottish borders that although it falls into a particular romantic genre, it dares to do things differently and succeeds admirably. Sarah Hopson (Valerie Edmond) has been living a successful, high-flying lifestyle in New York but when she finds out that she has a terminal illness, she heads back home to Scotland to prepare for her death. When she arrives, she reacquaints with her childhood sweetheart Sam Murray (Gerard Butler). Sam now runs a restaurant and has since married but Sarah approaches his wife (Valerie Gogan) to ask that she spend time with him before her death - causing everyone some mixed emotions. The film opens with a lone female, arms aloft, teetering on the edge of a skyscraper. It's a powerful piece of imagery and an opening scene that sets the tone of this heartfelt tale. This is not a film about death but about life, love and relationships. It explores the mistakes and regrets but also delivers a chance of redemption. It's in the human relationships that this film finds it's strength. It's not just about Sarah and her need to tie up loose ends but it confidently explores the effects on the people around her; she brings both a mixture of pleasure and pain to the other characters. At times she can come across as arrogant and selfish yet she also brings hope and instills a belief in people to live their lives fully. This is a film that wears it's heart on it's sleeve and for the most part, the performances are great. It's interesting watching a young Gerard Butler and Valerie Gogan as his suffering wife is fantastic. James Cosmo is also especially memorable as Sarah's cantankerous, rough diamond father. However, Valerie Edmond as the lead, looked a little stretched at times which I just couldn't understand; in some scenes she was absolutely superb and in others she was quite poor. This could be down to her delivery of the dialogue though. I tend to be a little harsh on Scottish performers as sometimes the dialogue isn't delivered properly. Most Scots have a certain slang nature to their dialect and when you hear words uttered with correct English pronunciation it jars a little. Understandably this has to be the case, so as to appeal to a wider audience but as a Scotsman, it seems out of place. That being said, Edmond still gets the job done and although some of the idiom may lost, the film still retains it's subtle Scottish humour and delivers moments of highly impressive, realistic drama. Despite some small inconsistencies this is still a beautifully played, poignant and heartfelt life/love story. It's not normally the type of film I'd be drawn to but I was impressed with it's execution. Does manage some moments of clarity with James Cosmo's grounded old school father a blessing in disguise surrounded by pretentious cappuccino guzzlers, while no-one can argue that it stands head and shoulders above a mildly similar Irish effort "Trouble With Sex" from 2005. While it's nothing special, it should provide the odd highlight here and there if you're stuck for light, non threatening, night-time TV frills.
